Memorial Day

Thayne and I worked all morning, but then Audrey got to go out to Great Grandmas for the afternoon. She had a blast! Grandma got out some trucks to play with and Audrey pushed them around and even rode in one for awhile. Then they pulled her around in the wagon, which she really liked. She had a really good time and was out for a few hours nap afterward!
I finally uploaded the photos from my phone, so I’ll post from today and then some from Sundays at Grandpa Wright’s house.

Bumming Around

Miss Audrey was not well this weekend, so we didn’t do too much. She seems to be feeling much better tonight, though!
Grandpa Wright got a new computer and while her dad put it together, Audrey got to play in a cardboard fort, which she really seemed to love!

Audrey has really been voicing her opinions lately! She will try the fit throwing first. She will get down on the floor and scream and kick. We pretend we don’t notice. Then she’ll just kind of follow us around and “complain” for awhile. This past weekend was a little hard trying to figure out what was acting out and what was just feeling bad. For the most part, she got spoiled with bottles of juice (trying to get fluids in her) and being cuddled, sleeping in Mommy’s bed, etc.
I don’t remember if I said so before, but we tried the swimming pool. No go there. Even thought she’d be fine once she was in it, but she screamed bloody murder. For days afterward, she would peek out the back door before she would go outside. She LOVES to be outside, but if that pool was out there, she was staying in. It was actually pretty funny. =o)

We had our friends Jill and Clint come to town last week with Emery. When we got back from dinner, Audrey got extremely possessive of her things! Considering she never has people over to “share” with, it was really a new experience. She didn’t want him to play with her toys or her dogs or anything. Luckily she’s pretty good at sharing in public, but we’ll have to work on the “mine” attitude at home!
Audrey has also really taken a liking to her chair. She will climb up in it and just sit and watch the tv or whatever is going on around her. Some new Backyardigans episodes are coming out on the tv so it is kinda nice getting a change in song. She still loves to sing “head and shoulders”– and she is playing with her baby, giving it open-mouth kisses.

All-in-all, Audrey is learning something new everyday and so are her parents!
We are pretty excited that she may actually enjoy the vacation this year too–

Out of my way DAD!

“Summer” is finally here!

Alright, well it is still spring, but it might as well be summer as far as everything goes! Sarah is done with class for the semester, so we’re looking forward to more time together as a family. Audrey seems to love having both Mom and Dad around more. Things are really starting to settle down after the big storms. We replaced Audrey’s carpet and her room is looking even better than before, since we are now storing the mattresses in the hallway.

Sarah’s sister, Rachel, is “home” for the summer, living with the ‘rents. We’ve worked it out so we each cook a meal a week which is kinda fun and helps split the costs since everyone’s got to eat. Looking forward to the Grey’s finally tonight!!  Clint and Jill and Emery are all in town for a break and we’re planning to do dinner with them. All-in-all it has been busy but much calmer. Audrey is still getting around as much as she likes and a little more than we’d like, but it is amazing to be parents and see our little girl growing up, although sometimes it’d be nice if we could slow it down a little and enjoy her. Then again, look at what happened in Click when he got the remote power over his life. Guess God knows best! A mommy probably can only handle so much of each stage before she loses her mind =o)

Hmm…sometimes I forget what I’ve said and what I haven’t! You can pretty much catch up on the Gleisbergs and some of the Ashtons by following the links to their sites…as for Sarah’s family…Rachel’s planning the wedding and working her internship in Omaha over the summer, Ben & Sarah are awaiting #2, and Bekah is making a “to-do” list for the up-coming summer.

Only three weeks to vacation in Colorado with the Wright side of the family! We should have plenty of things to share from that trip! Most of it will probably taking things slow and having a good time. Hope you’ll check back soon!

Zoo

We went to the zoo again today with Aunt Rachel and we had a wonderful time!

“Look! Fishes!”

The Macaroni penguin was Audrey’s height

We liked the goats a little bit, but the white one tried to ram Miss Audrey!

The bear isn’t doing anything today, Mom!

We LOVED the penguins!

Water water everywhere!

ONE more final and Sarah is done for the semester! Maybe then things will calm down enough to post. Okay, maybe not, but we’re trying here!

TORRENTIAL RAINSTORMS this weekend. Although we are fortunate enough to live where the water isn’t flooding the whole town and tornados aren’t ripping through our houses, BUT we had a very long weekend! Thayne was up all night Saturday night cleaning up water that was pouring in to our house–we had about 2 inches in the dog room a couple of times, but he managed to get most of the water out of the house. The drain held up as well as it could outside the back door, but we’re talking HEAVY downpours! Sarah worked overnight and they were saying people couldn’t make it in cause they were blocking off roads and telling people to evacuate some towns. Needless to say, we were all pretty tired come Sunday. Thayne and I cleaned up the house as best we could Sunday with everything still pulled out away from the walls so we could dry out the carpets. Audrey’s carpet may still need to be replaced, we aren’t sure yet. We were so tired we slept nearly 10 hours overnight into Monday. We called in and took personal days so we could catch up on sleep and get the house in shape. We did most of that. Rachel and Zack were home, though, and they brought over Zack’s newly purchased Wii, which we are calling Zwii. The Zwii was pretty sweet. I think Thayne secretly wants one now. I think we had the most fun “bowling”. We didn’t get much done after that because A) We were playing and B) they shut off our water for most of the day…so laundry and the like had to wait. Good thing we already got cleaned up for the day! Playing the Zwii

Audrey was pretty comfortable around Zack and Rachel which was great. We’re hoping she starts to recognize and like people more soon! As always, more about her on her own page!

Really nothing more has been happening. Studying for finals, trying to keep above water!, and keeping below the radadrs on work gossip (HyVee is the worst for that). Counting down the last month to vacation!

Ahh, the life

Loves the swing!!

Audrey saying “rahrhrrr” while she plays in the laundry bucket

Audrey plays her heart out–and all we do is take pictures! She’s been doing a lot of “head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes”. All she can really do is the head part, but she loves it! She also likes to clap and dance, which is really cute. She has also been really big on “bracelets”. She will pretty much wear anything on her arms. The other day, she had the roll of duct tape just hanging around her arm while she walked around.
We had to buy new pajamas for the warmer weather!

We’re having a good time playing and growing up!

Audrey playing with the dogs and getting “kisses”

Having a Blast with Aunt Bekah!

We love the mirror, too, but we have to be careful so we don’t knock them over and break them! “Getting pretty”:
