Well Well Well– its a new year and you might think my New Year’s Resolution should be to update more frequently, but surprise!! It’s not!

So, just what are we up to lately?

The holiday season was an amazing time– amazingly busy for one. We managed to get everything pretty much under wraps by Christmas. Audrey is lucky he gets to be a spoiled only child for now.

Now that it is January, we kind of crash–

At any rate, we have been doing a lot of work and cleaning and decision-making here at the Wright house. MAybe you are all lucky we haven’t posted in awhile for fear it would get too philosophical.

Likely we will continue to be busy, but I will continue to update as well. RAchel’s wedding is but a few months away so we’ve got big plans there! Hopefully Audrey is prepared to be a ful-fledged flower girl by then.

If you are all lucky and I can happen to remember the last couple of months, I may get back to you on the holiday madness. For now, I leave you with  this brief post and a promise to ATTEMPT to keep you in the loop–

God Bless

Happy Halloween!

I know its only the 29th, but we have pretty much gotten all the Halloween festivities out of the way. Audrey will probably go trick-or-treat with my parents since I have to work, but I thought I would get our latest up for now.

Saturday we did end up going to Thayne’s work to trick-or-treat. Audrey is a bee this year. If you ask her what bees “say”, she says “beeeees”. The costume was a big hit with everyone. When we first got there, Audrey walked right into a lady with a cart. The lady felt bad, but she hadn’t moved an inch for at least a minute, Audrey just wasn’t paying any attention. She has a nice black knot above her right eye to show for it, but she’s fine. So anyway, we walked around the stare gathering candy. Audrey kept getting stuff with nuts in them or other things that I was sure she wouldn’t eat. Of course, it IS candy, so I will probably be surprised. We went back to the scanning office and Debbie gave her the loot. Audrey LOVED the sucker she got there.

After getting all the sugar, we went to visit my parents in her costume and then out to eat. Audrey was ready to get out of costume after that. She is actually quite obsessed with wearing clean clothes. If she has any inclination that something is “Dirty”, she will not put it back on. So…

Then, yesterday we went to the pumpkin patch– it was finally not raining! It has been quite cold the last few days, but it turned out nice. Audrey absolutely loved riding on the tractor. She also really liked the animals.

Here she is standing by the yard stick– she’s not going to be a tall girl…

She is a piggy. Oink oink.

Going out to get pumpkins…in Aunt Rae’s sunglasses

Who knew pumpkin patches were so hazardous? And those pumpkins have thorns! Audrey still won’t touch Rachel’s pumpkin. These are those sticky fur thingies (technical term) that she was great at gathering on her coat.

Lookin at the pumpkins.

One of a billion petting zoo pics… The goat was bleeping at her and she just kinda stared at it. Apparently our sounds aren’t even close to what it really sounded like. She wasn’t sure what to think.

Audrey made a friend in line who was eating a candy necklace– they even gave Audrey one. We were long on our way home before she figured it out. Definitely a big fan of those.

So overall we had a good time. Audrey is a lot more excited about new things like pumpkins and sheep than she has ever been. I know this year will be a lot more exciting for her during the holiday season. We actually went to Hallmark with Rachel the other day and all the Christmas stuff is out. She has learned that Santa says “ho ho ho”. She is really starting to talk– finally! It’s near impossible to understand still, but she is talking. We were driving home the other night after I got off from work and she said like 10 words and I just said, “ok”. Thayne turns to me and translates, “When we get home she needs a new diaper because she is wet”…and then I could actually understand the words…it was crazy! She has also become quite interested in Elmo and reading her books. So, that’s about it for an update. We’re keeping busy but trying to enjoy the season– it’ll be gone in a blink again- I still can’t believe Audrey is getting close to 3!

Fall Festivities

It is still very much cold and rainy outside, so no pumpkin patch for us this week! We did buy a bunch of pumpkins to carve tonight, though. At first, Audrey was scared to get in. She still didn’t warm up to the texture. We didn’t make her sit in one this year, though…

Anyway, I will add photos:

Watching as Aunt Rachel carves…

What’s inside?

Actually helping!!

All Done!

Tomorrow we might go to Thayne’s store for Halloween Trick-or-Treating…it all depends on the weather and how late we feel like sleeping in!

Woke With a Boom

Last night we had some crazy storms! Actually, this whole week is near 100% chance of rain, so its been very stormy, but we actually had an off-season thunderstorm last night. Around 1:30 we woke up to a loud crash, the whole house shook and the alarm went off, all because the thunder was so loud. It was something else.

I went in to check on Audrey and she was laying in her bed, wide awake. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever seen her eyes wider. We had her come in our bed with us and she crawled clear down under the covers by our feet and wouldn’t come out…

When dad got up for work this morning, she was devastated to have him leave. She kept telling me “bye mom! bye!”– so we left too and drove a loop around the interstate. She was happy with that– and out ike a light when we got home.

Today was very cold and rainy, so we stayed in for the most part. We spent most the morning as normal, reading an especially large amount of books before I insisted on stopping. Her new favorties are Dr. Suess. They tend to have a lot of those “I do not know, go ask your dad” lines– to which she always replies “At work! at Hy-vee!” incredulously, as if they should not dare ask her to do something when they should know he isn’t around. Audrey is always insistent that dad is at work when he isnt home–even when I say he’s coming home, she will tell me, “no, at work! at Hy-Vee!”

Anyway. So, then tonight we went out to my parents and she just loves it there– its like toy heaven. Tonight, my mom didn’t get home until around 8 and Audrey’s reaction was classic– I so wish I had caught it on tape– you would laugh. She was hysterical, just screaming with delight and surprise. She didn’t know what to do with herself, she just ran around with her arms flailing. You would think it was, I don’t know, Cinderella or something. It was so great.

Well, not much really to tell. This is our life, Audrey amuses us daily. She really has her say in things, whether or not we let her have it that way.She is finally starting to talk and even use the potty for “poo-poop”. She still insists she is “All clean” and doesn’t need to sit on the potty until she is wet…still truckin…

We were hoping to get to the pumpkin patch this week, but the rain has kinda been a damper on those plans. If it does in fact stop raining, we may actually go but the mud would be a BIG problem…it may have to wait. I’m wondering how the weather will be for Halloween. Unfortunately I have to work that evening, so we likely won’t be doing much. Audrey does have a bee outfit and we will probably do a little “candy-hunting” at Thayne’s Hy-Vee and a couple house visits that night. I’m pretty excited Audrey is old enough to start enjoying things now.

We’re going to go ahead and call that good. I hope I can get to updating a little more often, at least then you might hear a few more silly stories about Audrey.

Eh, I don’t have much time to write just now, but I’m posting a photo album link I’m hoping to be using more of, just thought I’d let you know–

So, we are getting into the Halloween spirit. The other day we went to Walmart and bought a windsock and a few other things. We made sucker ghosts and hung a few on the tree out front. They sort of became weapons in the wind and then pretty much melted in the rain…but anyway.

We have been reading Halloween books and Audrey makes all the ghost, goblin and monster noises. She is still a scardie cat though. (And she would probably “meow” at that)

We bought her a Halloween color book and she loves it. She doesn’t like to color alone, though. Those are the times I do wish she were two. (Otherwise, one is plenty!) Today we were coloring and there was a bat in the book which she kept saying was an owl. She loves owls. She will go around “hoo-hoo” whenever you ask about owls. She even has an owl shirt. Actually, I don’t want to make it sound like she ONLY loves owls, because she loves many many animals…and she can’t go anywhere without her butterfly jeans and her hearts. We have like ten shirts with hearts on them so she doesn’t have to wear the same shirt every day. And she carries her giraffes evrywhere– anything giraffe she has to have. Her little baby “people” is always riding a giraffe around. And of course, with the babies. Tonight we were in Walmart and we stopped by the toy aisle to look around and she had to kiss all the babies goodnight before we could leave. Thayne looked at me and said “seriously? All of them?” It was pretty amusing.

Anyway, we’re keeping busy with school, work and Audrey. Potty training isn’t a happening thing lately, but soon we hope! Don’t forget to visit the photo gallery!

Laying Low

Tuesday we spent the evening at Sarah’s parents house and Wednesday was at Thayne’s dad’s. Audrey was in a terrible, terrible mood Wednesday night and had a hard time sharing the toys she usually has to herself at Grandpa Wright’s. Overall, she seemed to like the girls, she just needed a nap and a few more hours learning to share. Ahh, well, whatdayado?
Thursday was a lot more chill. Thayne and I had to work so Audrey got another day with Bekah (which will unfortunately for everyone end next Thursday with the start of school). After that, we went out to Applebee’s again for the 99 cent kids meals and then we went to the park.
There were some scary scary “ground wasps” as I think Thayne called them, so we had to get out of the sand. There were also so to-the-tee Council-tuckians there trying to tell us what to do and offering to help Audrey slide…so we left in a quick hurry. Audrey was definitely NOT pleased with the length of the park trip, she screamed and screamed “no” when we left.

Again we worked Friday morning (today). Sarah got off early so she was going to take a nap, but Audrey didn’t think so. She found mom’s glasses and decided she should wear them…doesn’t she look smart?

Today Sarah, Rachel and Bekah went “shopping” while Audrey and dad took a nap. We just basically went to Bed Bath & Beyond and stores around there to look around. We did find some night lights that, hopefully, Audrey can’t break. She seems to break/burn out bulbs nightly. We were gone for awhile and when we came home, you could hear Audrey whimpering in her room. Sometimes she just does that, but I opened the door for her and looked in and didn’t see her…but the whimpering was there. I found her in the closet, on the floor holding a diaper and looking completely freaked out. Mind you, she can’t get out on her own, but who knows how she got in there. Anyway, she was glad to see us “rescue her” and recovered fairly quickly. IT was honestly funny, yet tragic. That’s about all I have to post!

Summer Continues

So, we went to the zoo again today. Audrey gets more excited each and every time. Unfortunately no cousins could join us.

Ana, Jonathan and the girls are in town this week, so we’re pretty excited to get the girls together. Audrey will have a blast. Today we went to lunch at Applebee’s with Ana and Jonathan and Audrey took to them pretty quick. She had Ana’s name down before we left, but it may be another year before she can say Jonathan (but at least you got to make out with her Jonathan)–

Anyway, we’ve got big family plans this week with them in town and Sarah’s bro Ben on vacay, so hopefully that all works out. Not much to say, it’s been a big day so we’re headed to bed since we have to work tomorrow–

Zoo Busy

Seems we’ve fallen behind again! Well, here’s some of our recent events:

1) Cousin Zeke turned 3 a week ago, so last weekend we went to the zoo to celebrate. We couldn’t stay long because Bekah and I had to work, but we did get some hotdogs (Bekah was hungry!!) j/k

Here’s more pics from that:

Dad and the Desert Dome

Papa Audrey and the Penguins that Audrey doesn’t want anything to do with

Zeke and Audrey looking at the penguins under the trees

Here’s the headless Penguin!

Zeke’s big thing right now is Thomas the Train, so we got him a blanket which we hear was a hit. Unfortunately, we don’t see much of the boys even though we live close, everyone’s just so busy!!

2) Sarah studied and “unofficially” passed her NCLEX– yeah!

3) We went to the zoo again! And we so love our zoo! Audrey gets more excited evey time we go. She has been reading a lot about animals and is learning the noises they make. Her new favorites are “ribbit” and “whoo whoo”– but you’d really have to know her to know that’s what she was doing, haha.  I swear, its still ewock speak.

So, here’s the latest from that trip as well.

Audrey explores the Jungle!

Looking in the stumps was the best part of the butterfly house for Audrey.

This one had a frog in it!

She really loved the bees. I don’t really know why or if she knew it was the same as “bee movie” or what, but she just would have stayed there all day.

Still, the Aquarium is the favorite

Exploring the jungle…

Wow!

Look!!

Look!! I need to point with TWO now!

The Petting zoo– a bigger hit this time and no ramming goats!

Aren’t they cute?

On a vine in the jungle

This time when we went to the zoo, Audrey got to pick out a pack of animals to take home. She picked the “Animal Babies” and she won’t put them down! I know she’s not going to mind going to the zoo again with grandma next week!

Other than that, we’re just trying to recover from the stress of preparing for the test and keep things in balance!

Bekah paints Audrey’s nails–
